How the feed moves through the line

Every stage and its machine. Tap any machine for its specifications and sizes.

Intake and grinding

First screw conveyor See Screw Conveyors for Feed Mills

Moves raw material from the intake point to the feed bin.

Raw material bin See Feed Silos

Sits directly above the hammer mill and feeds it by gravity.

Feeder

Between bin and mill — it sets the feed rate so the mill neither chokes nor runs empty.

Hammer mill See Feed Hammer Mills

Grinds the raw material to the fineness the feed type calls for.

Dosing and mixing

Screw to the dosing bins See Screw Conveyors for Feed Mills

Takes the ground material from under the mill to the dosing bin.

2 dosing bins See Feed Silos

The economical route: fewer bins and simpler running, with the same weighing accuracy.

Dosing scale See Feed Dosing Scales

In front of the bins rather than under them, fed by a screw from the bin.

Airlock See Airlocks for Feed Mills

Between scale and mixer when the scale sits above it — it stops air blowback.

Fitted when the scale sits above the mixer

Mixer See Feed Mixers

Blends the mix to full homogeneity.

Finishing and bagging

Transfer to the product bin See Screw Conveyors for Feed Mills

Straight from the mixer to the product bin — a mash line has no pressing or cooling.

Screw or elevator depending on the layout

Bagging See Packing Machines for Feed Mills

By hand from under the product bin, or with an automatic bagging machine.

Manual or automatic

Mash Feed Production Line

A mash (unpelleted) feed production line whose capacity depends on the capacity of the grinder and the mixer, used to produce fine, medium, or coarse feed without pelleting. The line covers grinding the raw materials, weighing the ingredients, and mixing them, then moving the feed to the product bin and packing it.

Production Line Components

  1. First Screw Conveyor: Moves the raw materials from the receiving point to the raw material bin.
  2. Raw Material Bin: Receives the raw materials and feeds the grinder; it is installed above the grinder so that materials move into it.
  3. Feeder: Regulates the entry of raw materials into the grinder to ensure steady feeding.
  4. Grinder: Grinds the raw materials to the required fineness depending on the type of feed.
  5. Screw Conveyor to Batching: Moves the ground material from the bottom of the grinder to the batching bins.
  6. 2 Batching Bins: Used to receive the materials and prepare them for the weighing stage according to the feed formula.
  7. Batching Scale: Weighs the materials according to the ratios set in the feed formula.
  8. Air Gate: Installed between the scale and the mixer when the scale is above the mixer, to help prevent air from flowing back.
  9. Mixer: Mixes the materials after they are weighed to obtain a homogeneous mix.
  10. Moving the Feed to the Product Bin: A screw conveyor or a bucket elevator moves the feed from the mixer to the product bin, depending on the line design.
  11. Packing: The feed is packed from the bottom of the product bin, manually or with an automatic packing machine.

How the Production Line Works

The materials go through the following stages:

  1. Moving the materials to the raw material bin.
  2. Feeding the grinder and grinding the materials.
  3. Moving the ground material to the batching bins.
  4. Weighing the materials according to the feed formula.
  5. Mixing the ingredients inside the mixer.
  6. Moving the mixed feed to the product bin.
  7. Packing the feed into bags.

The 2-Batching System

The line relies on two batching bins and one scale to weigh the materials according to the required feed formula before they move to the mixer.

Feed Fineness Levels

The feed can be produced in three levels of fineness:

  • Fine: Suits formulas that require a fine grind.
  • Medium: A medium grind according to the feed's needs.
  • Coarse: Suits formulas that require a coarser grind.

The fineness level is set by changing the screen inside the grinder, according to the grind required.

The Difference Between Mash Feed and Pelleted Feed

The mash line produces feed that is ground and mixed without turning it into pellets, while pelleted feed goes through additional stages that include pelleting and cooling.

Adding a pellet mill and a cooler in the future can be considered depending on the project's needs and the line design.

Line Layout Inside the Plant

The equipment layout is determined according to the plant area and the installation plan, with the way materials and feed are moved between stages chosen using screw conveyors or bucket elevators.
