How the feed moves through the line

Every stage and its machine. Tap any machine for its specifications and sizes.

Intake and grinding

First screw conveyor See Screw Conveyors for Feed Mills

Moves raw material from the intake point to the feed bin.

Raw material bin See Feed Silos

Sits directly above the hammer mill and feeds it by gravity.

Feeder

Between bin and mill — it sets the feed rate so the mill neither chokes nor runs empty.

Hammer mill See Feed Hammer Mills

Grinds the raw material to the fineness the feed type calls for.

Dosing and mixing

Screw to the dosing bins See Screw Conveyors for Feed Mills

Takes the ground material from under the mill to the dosing bin.

2 dosing bins See Feed Silos

The economical route: fewer bins and simpler running, with the same weighing accuracy.

Dosing scale See Feed Dosing Scales

In front of the bins rather than under them, fed by a screw from the bin.

Airlock See Airlocks for Feed Mills

Between scale and mixer when the scale sits above it — it stops air blowback.

Fitted when the scale sits above the mixer

Mixer See Feed Mixers

Blends the mix to full homogeneity.

Pressing and cooling

Transfer to the press See Screw Conveyors for Feed Mills

From the mixer to the press bin.

Screw or elevator — depending on a horizontal or vertical layout

Pellet press See Feed Pellet Mills

Turns the mix into pellets of the required size.

Cooler See Feed Coolers

Brings the pellet temperature down and sets its hardness.

Directly under the press, or fed by a belt depending on the layout

Crumbler For poultry feed See Feed Crumblers

Breaks the pellet down to chick size. Not fitted on cattle feed lines.

Finishing and bagging

Screen See Feed Screens

Sorts out the required size and returns fines to the press. Sits above the product bin.

Reached by elevator or belt — depending on capacity and layout

Bagging See Packing Machines for Feed Mills

By hand from under the product bin, or with an automatic bagging machine.

Manual or automatic

1.5 Ton/Hour Feed Production Line – 2-Batching System

A feed production line with a capacity of 1.5 tons per hour, relying on a dual batching system made up of two bins and a batching scale, to prepare and weigh the materials before mixing and then turn them into feed pellets.

Line Specifications

Line Components

First Screw Conveyor

Moves the raw materials from the receiving point to the feed bin.

Raw Material Bin

Receives the raw materials and feeds the grinder.

Feeder

Regulates the entry of material into the grinder at the required feed rate.

Grinder

Grinds the raw materials to the required fineness depending on the type of feed.

Grinder power: 30 HP.

Transfer Screw Conveyor

Moves the ground material from the bottom of the grinder to the batching area.

Two Batching Bins

The line has two batching bins, each with a capacity of about 2–3 tons.

Having two bins allows two types of material to be stored, or the materials to be divided between the two bins depending on the mix design.

Batching Scale

Weighs the materials before they enter the mixer according to the ratios set for the mix.

Scale capacity: 0.5 ton.

Mixer

Mixes the materials after they are weighed to obtain a homogeneous mix.

Mixer capacity: 0.5 ton, internal size 200×72 cm.

Pellet Mill Bin

Receives the mix after mixing and feeds the pellet mill.

Pellet Mill

Turns the mix into feed pellets of the required size.

Die size: 250.

Conveyor

Moves the pellets leaving the pellet mill to the cooler.

Cooler

Lowers the temperature of the pellets after pelleting and helps prepare them for the next stage.

Cooler size: 100 cm.

Crumbler – When Needed

Used when producing crumbled poultry feed, where it crumbles the pellets after cooling.

It can be left out when producing whole pellets.

Crumbler size: 60 cm.

Screener

Separates the fines from the final product after cooling or crumbling.

The fines can be returned to the pellet mill depending on the line design.

Finished Product Bin

Receives the product after the production stages are complete, with a capacity of about 2–3 tons.

How the Line Works

The materials pass through the line in the following basic order:

Receiving materials → Grinding → Batching and weighing → Mixing → Pelleting → Cooling → Crumbling when needed → Screening → Final product

The conveying equipment and bins are arranged according to the plant design and the site area.

What Is the Difference Between 1-Batching and 2-Batching?

The main difference is the system for storing and weighing the materials.

1-batching:

One batching bin + scale.

2-batching:

Two batching bins + scale.

In the 2-batching system, the materials can be distributed between two bins depending on how the mixes are prepared and the line design.

Producing Pellets and Crumbled Poultry Feed

The line produces pellets after the pelleting and cooling stage.

When producing crumbled poultry feed, a crumbling stage is added after the cooler, and the product then passes over the screener.

Whole pellets:

Pelleting → Cooling → Screening → Final product.

Crumbled feed:

Pelleting → Cooling → Crumbling → Screening → Final product.

Line Design and Equipment Layout

The equipment layout is not the same in every project.

It is determined according to:

  • The plant area.
  • The building height.
  • The location of the raw materials.
  • The location of the finished product.
  • How materials are moved between stages.

The final line drawing is therefore determined according to the project site.

Advantages of the 2-Batching System

  • Two bins to store materials before weighing.
  • One batching scale to weigh the materials according to the mix.
  • A production capacity of 1.5 tons/hour.
  • The option to add a crumbler when producing poultry feed.
  • The line can be arranged to suit the plant area.
  • Packing can be done manually or with a packing machine, depending on the project setup.

Is This Line Suitable for Your Project?

The line is chosen according to the required capacity, the type of feed, the plant area, and the way the materials are prepared.

If you are aiming for about 1.5 tons/hour and need a 2-batching system, the suitable line configuration can be determined once the plant area and the required way of operating are known.
